Job Search Coaching

The job search is a very challenging process. Having a coach can make the difference between getting hired quickly and falling into a long, drawn out process going nowhere. As your Job Search Coach, I will use my considerable expertise to help you (1) identify your strengths and become focused, (2) produce the highest level of professional marketing materials, and (3) coach you to excellence in such areas as company research, networking, self-marketing and interviewing.

Currently the average job search takes over four months. Each month you remain unemployed costs you thousands of dollars. I can help you return to work sooner so you are earning money rather than spending it. Instead of taking months to learn how to job search (usually through a prolonged trial and error process) I can help you “find the work you’ll love” by teaching you how to market yourself successfully in today’s very competitive job market.

My success coaching people is based on years of experience; the highest levels of training in career counseling; positive working relationships with employers and Human Resource professionals; and over five years facilitating two branches of WIND, the largest networking group for professionals in New England. I have an unparalleled knowledge of the Boston area labor market and know what it takes to get hired. Even more important, I am a skilled coach with prior experience as a therapist and an ability to help clients discover and act on the excellence that is within them. I’ll help you meet the challenges of the job search with grace and confidence.

The “Deliverables” In Our Coaching Collaboration Include:

• Helping you gain the focus you will need for the job search (many job seekers are not sure what they want to do, where their strengths lie, or what roles they can do most effectively)
• Coaching in how to network (Phone scripts, Networking skill practice, making contacts to target companies, adding value)
• Developing the highest level of job search marketing materials Resumes, Profile sheets, Cover letters, Career Portfolios
• Developing library and Internet research skills
• Helping you manage time and stay organized
• Preparing you for tough interviews and income boosting salary negotiations
• Providing the highest level of personal attention and professional support, guidance, and motivation throughout this process.
• Being available to help you decide tough issues as they arise

How We Work Together:

Coaching is a very personal process involving a commitment to work together over a period of months. Typically, clients commit to work together for three months or longer. Coaching involves developing an ongoing supportive relationship where I help you achieve more than you could achieve by yourself. I work to bring out your very best by setting challenging yet achievable goals, and by developing in you the skills and confidence needed to attain them. Our coaching helps you succeed by providing the support, motivation, accountability and professional expertise needed to achieve at your highest possible level. Working together, you gain the confidence and expertise to achieve goals you once thought out of reach

A Three Month Coaching Contract Would Include:

1. Two initial face-to-face meetings (distance permitting) to assess job search readiness, clarity of career goal, and an action plan for the job search.
2. Regular weekly phone check-ins and, where possible, once a month in-person meetings
3. Completion of weekly assignments to increase job search skill and to provide guideposts of job search progress. This increases accountability and morale
4. Emergency “on-call” coaching assistance for surprise interviews
5. Delivery of the following Products/Services:
   • A professional quality resume
   • A Networking Profile Sheet and Business Cards
   • Networking Phone Scripts
   • Interview materials, coaching and practice time
   • Salary Negotiation Information and practice
   • Internet Job Search guidance

Additional Professional Services Also Available Include:

• Target Company Research where 20 target companies and related “bridge” people contacts are provided through utilization of fee-based data bases
• Career Portfolios: a career portfolio is developed in paper or internet form
• Video-taped Interview Practice
• Career Assessment Package
• Resume Services

Fees

Professional fees for a three month contract including the above five services vary with the portfolio of services requested – Call for a free assessment of your need. Six Months of Coaching Service: Varies with services requested
